The Editorial Board accepts manuscripts that align with the journal’s scope and focus.
The Editorial Board accepts for review:
- scientific articles;
- book reviews;
- documents;
- historiographical materials;
- articles/notes dedicated to eminent representatives of historical science.
The Editorial Board does not accept:
- previously published works or simultaneous submissions to multiple publications;
- plagiarized content;
- materials that fail to meet the content and formatting requirements outlined below
Content Requirements
The manuscript must be submitted to the Editorial Board as two separate files (.doc/.docx format only):
- The manuscript text.
- Author(s)’ information.
The file name must contain the last name of the author(s).
The manuscript length should range from 1 to 2 print units (40 000– 80 000 characters including spaces); font size 14 (Times New Roman without automatic hyphenation), first line indented 1.25 cm, line spacing 1.5. Longer submissions may be accepted with Editorial Board approval.
The following article elements are mandatory:
- Author(s)’ full name and article title (in Russian and English).
- Abstract (in Russian and English). The abstract length should range from 200 to 250 words. The abstract is a standalone text describing the main research results, including relevance, purpose, research methods, and brief findings.
- Keywords: 4–6 phrases separated by semicolons (in Russian and English).
- Article text.
- Acknowledgements.
- Author(s)’ contribution.
- Conflict of interest
- References.
The manuscript proper must be followed by:
Acknowledgements
This section lists all external funding sources that influenced the research findings, as well as all non-author individuals that contributed to the study.
Author(s)’ Contribution
For multiple authors, describe each co-author’s contribution according to CRediT.
Conflict of Interest
The manuscript must declare any current or potential conflicts of interest. If none exist, state «The author declares (/authors declare) no conflict of interest.»
References
Author(s) should cite works accessible to reviewers and readers. The reference list must contain at least 15 sources. Self-citation, i.e. including the author(s)’ work(s) on the reference list, is permitted but must account for no more than 10% of all references.
Only sources directly mentioned in the text may appear in the reference list. References should include articles and monographs. The journal has accepted an adapted version of the Vancouver Style of References design, which is one of the standards recognized by international databases

A chapter from a monograph or an article from a collection:

The name of the journal and the titles of monographs and collections are italicized. Dots are placed after the initials. Do not put a comma between the author(s)’ last name and initials. If the article has more than five authors, the full names of the first three should be given, followed by «et al.».

Formatting Requirements
Illustrations. Articles published in the journal may include illustrations. Electronic illustrations and photos must be submitted as separate files with a minimum size of 1000 pixels on the short side. Illustrations require captions describing the event or object being depicted, as well as the date. Illustration titles must appear in both Russian and English. Editorial Board reserves the right to select or replace article illustrations.
Citations. Use consecutively numbered (e.g., 1–32) footnotes in font size 12.
Footnotes may include Internet sources (news, reports, forums, videos), legal documents, statistics, media publications and textbooks. Citing dissertations/abstracts is allowed, provided that they are publicly accessible to readers. References to accepted but unpublished articles can be included with an «in press» label if the author(s) obtain written permission and acceptance confirmation. Information from unpublished sources should have an «unpublished data/documents» label, and the author(s) must, likewise, obtain written permission for the use of such materials. All internet sources, including those cited in footnotes, require access dates.
Author(s)’ Information
A separate file must include:
- Author(s)’ full name.
- Academic credentials, title, position and affiliation (full institution name, city, country).
- ORCID, SPIN code, or AuthorID.
- Contact details: postal address with zip code, phone/fax (office, mobile), e-mail.
Copyright
The authors publishing in this journal agree with the following:
- The authors retain the copyright to the work and entitle the journal to publish the work for the first time.
- The authors reserve the right to enter into separate contractual arrangements regarding the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published here (for example, its placement in the institute’s repository, publication in a book), with reference to its original publication in this journal.
